BUILDING HOPE, One Home at a Time

Since 2006, this non-profit, not-partisan organization has been building or re-building homes to accommodate veterans fo the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan,  Many of these brave men and women have returned home with injuries that require modification of the way they live, as well as financial support for their altered circumstances  Building Homes for Heroes provides mortgage-free, appropriately modified homes, restoring the individual's freedom and independence, and allowing a productive return to civilian life.  The 501(c)(3) organization keeps its own operating costs remarkably low so that almost 94% of all monies raised go directly to the veterans it honors and serves.

In support of this noble mission, Denise Cox has designed a bracelet using symbolic elements:

Tumbled white agate beads from India represent the stars as well as the white stripes of our American Flag.  Blue sponge coral connotes the field against which those stars are spangled, and the red sponge coral completes the patriotic color scheme.  (It's important to note that the coral used falls within strong nature conservancy rules; they rise to the surface from already dead colonies and are collected by fishermen, so that no living organisms are harmed.)  For many who have served our country, white symbolizes purity; red, valor; and blue, justice and eternal vigilance in protecting our freedoms.

A single crystal bead represents the master healer.  Completing the imagery is a dangling silver house.

Denise Cox is the creative force behind Denise Cox, Inc Jewelry Design.  She is widely know for her striking contemporary designs, s well as her many philanthropic efforts to fight disease and social ills, providing hope to many through her art.
